Projectile Workshop

Projectile was an intractive video mapping workshop. I was a participant of this workshop. We mapped animations over the parametric 3D models. We used Rhino, Grasshopper, After Effects, Processing, MadMapper softwares together.

Parameterize - Parametric Column Capital Model

Rhino-Grasshopper model steps;

1st step:
-Creating 4 main corner curve of column capital.
-Divide curves  to 40 segments.
-Cull opposed elements with True, False, True , False boolean.
-Cull other opposed elements with False, True , False,True boolean.

2nd step:
-Create a line between points.
-Create a surface with 4 main corner curve and 4 secondary curve.
-Project lines to lofted surface.
-Extrude oriented lines.

3rd step:
-Create 2 horizontal, 2 vertical supporter surface middle of the rectangle.
- Bake and intersect supporter from each other like waffle structure.
-Bake and intersect supporter also from horrizontal elements.

Geometry Gym provides OpenBIM software tools and support for Architects and Engineers and those in the Construction Industry.  Primarily these tools target streamlined work flow processes for improved productivity and designs. Powerful Parametric and Generative modelling of projects is enabled by utilizing plug-ins for Grasshopper3d and Rhino3d. Generative BIM model exchange is provided using a combination of OpenBIM formats (primarily IFC) and direct API interaction to popular software including Revit, Archicad, Digital Project and Tekla.  Structural Analysis models can be exchanged with many popular analysis software.

Computational Geometry commands and functions (also useful to designers in industries other than architecture) are also provided in the plug-in BullAnt. Tessellation (polygon packing), geodesic domes, mesh relaxation and minimal surfaces are included amongst others, and you’ll find worked examples of these used in Architecture for projects such as the Beijing Water Cube or British Museum Great Court roof on the Geometry Gym blog.
